Fed: Patterson confirms health fund price rises = 2
The opposition said the premium hike could cost families between an extra $150 to $250 per year.
"These approvals are still double the inflation rate; they are in the context of $150to $250 per family per year," opposition health spokesman Stephen Smith told ABC Radio.
Senator Patterson said an average family policy would increase by $2.66 per week.
She said the government had approved the increases because funds had a backlog of claimsafter waiting periods expired for the large numbers who joined due to the Lifetime HealthCover policy and the 30 per cent rebate.
