NSW: Grain farmers get payouts from gvt
SYDNEY, Dec 13 AAP - NSW grain farmers left short after the collapse of the state'sgrains board have received their final payouts from the state government.
NSW Agriculture Minister Richard Amery said farmers owed money from the NSW GrainsBoard 1999-2000 pools had now been paid in full.
He said the administrator had paid back a government loan of $11.8 million, grantedafter the collapse of the board two years ago.
But Mr Amery said there remained a shortfall in owed monies to farmers.
"The government has allocated additional funds to allow $248,000 to be paid out togrowers and ensure that its commitment to growers is honoured," he said.
Payments to farmers would average $107 each.
